Hello — it’s nice to meet you!

My name is Harvey Jones MCIM MSc 👋 and I’m a sustainability marketing and communications leader based in London.

I'm from the US (California & Kentucky) and Japan (Yokosuka).

I spent my 20s in Chile as a conservation scientist, musician and physics teacher, and I’ve been in London working as a marketing and communications professional for the past 11 years.

My two young daughters keep me going, working for better ways to steward our ecosystems and communities.

Three quick facts about me:

1. I trained as a sustainability scientist and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM).

I started as a wildlife conservation biologist in Chile working with honeybees and native plants. You’ll find me talking about pollen and behavioural science, and I can understand what your subject matter experts are actually talking about.

I get a buzz from distilling compelling stories from complex information and data.

I’m evidence-based, but driven by imagination and purpose. My science and creative background has helped me build brands across:

  1. Corporate sustainability & advocacy

  2. Sustainability, built environment (engineering, architecture, transport) and natural environment (energy, water, minerals) services

  3. Sustainability policy & community regeneration

2. I’ve built successful marketing communications functions from the ground up.

At GHD, a global professional services firm, I built and trained a 15-person content and influencer marketing team. I like being around people and do my best to lead with emotional intelligence and rolling up my sleeves.

My strengths include leading marcomms and business development teams and working with service teams to create business and social environmental opportunities.

3. I bring different perspectives.

I’ve worked in large corporations, small to medium-sized NGOs and agency side with brands like Red Bull and Land Rover. I taught A-level physics and played Lallapalooza.

I understand different audiences and their needs and bring these insights to my job. I thrive in bringing stakeholders together behind projects and campaigns.

More about me:

  • I have my finger on global sustainability trends and advocacy issues. I learned the ropes at sustainability communications agencies working with companies like PepsiCo, Mars and JetBlue.

    Then I led the marketing communications team at the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) — the world’s largest network tackling sustainability issues in the built environment.

    Recently, I've led multi-stakeholder content marketing and event campaigns on the ground, in the Blue Zone, at COP26 and COP27.

    At COP26, I served as the communications lead for the #BuildingToCOP26 Coalition.

    I worked closely with the UN High Level Climate Champions, the UK Government, and several businesses and NGOs to deliver the first Cities, Regions and Built Environment Day at COP26 since COP21 in Paris.

  • Focusing on wildlife conservation, I completed my MSc with distinction at the Universidad de Católica de Chile in Natural Resource Management.

    I earned my BA in Biology and Minor in Philosophy at Transylvania University (USA).

    I speak English, Japanese and Spanish fluently. I stay busy playing guitar and teaching my daughters Japanese.
